Stars mark how urgent it usually isDrum fills and agitates normally, but the spin cycle never kicks in, leaving a soaked load. Usually a lid or door switch not registering as fully latched.
A small pool forming underneath during the wash. On front-load machines this is almost always the rubber door boot, worn thin or split at one fold.
Tub stays completely dry no matter how many minutes tick by after pressing start. Usually the inlet valve has stuck closed, or a supply hose has kinked shut somewhere behind the machine.
Feels like the machine is trying to walk across the floor mid-spin. Suspension springs or shocks wear out over the years and stop absorbing the movement.
A heavy thud on every rotation that's gradually gotten louder. This pattern almost always points to a drum bearing wearing down internally.

Check For An Unbalanced Load
A single heavy item like a comforter can throw off the whole spin cycle. Try redistributing the load or running it with a couple of towels added.
Confirm The Water Valves Are Open
Both hot and cold shut-off valves behind the machine need to be fully open. A partially closed valve can look like a fill problem.
Look For A Kinked Drain Hose
Check the hose running to the drain or standpipe isn't bent sharply or pinched behind the machine.
Make Sure The Door Or Lid Is Latching
Most washers won't start unless the door or lid reads as fully closed. Give it a firm push and listen for the click.
Check It's Not Overloaded
Packing the drum too full can trip a safety sensor. Try a smaller load and see if the cycle completes.
Check If It's Level
A washer that rocks even slightly can shake harder than it should. Most models have adjustable feet at the base.
