Clean Out The Lint Trap
A clogged lint screen is the single most common reason for slow drying. Clean it before every load if you don't already.
Check The Vent Hose Isn't Crushed
Pull the dryer out and look at the hose running to the wall. A kinked or crushed section restricts airflow badly.
Confirm Power Or Gas Supply
For electric dryers, check the breaker hasn't tripped. For gas models, confirm the shut-off valve is fully open.
Make Sure The Door Is Latching
Most dryers won't start unless the door safety switch reads as closed. Check for anything blocking it from shutting fully.
Don't Overload The Drum
Cramming too much in at once stops clothes from tumbling properly and can trick the moisture sensor.
Check The Outside Vent Cap
Step outside and make sure the exterior vent flap opens freely and isn't blocked by debris or a bird's nest.
